Shower Makeover
The Before...
My condo was previously 'upgraded' when it sold in the early 2000s...Many of the upgrades were wonderful (crown molding, granite countertops) but they did a simple paint-over with the shower. Fast forward 15ish years and after receiving a $13k quote to upgrade the shower & toilet room (vanity is outside the bathroom.... I was in sticker shock for such a small room), I decided, why not attempt a makeover myself. The project honestly took me about two weeks, cost $250ish dollars, and a whole lot of (wo)man hours. I am super proud of how it turned out.
Steel toe boots
Because I've already had my toes broken by a canoe in Oregon, not going to let the heavy shower doors break them
Removed the doors and tracks
Removed the caulk
Sand the chipped paint
Sand
Every day after work I would sand with my drill sanding attachment until the battery died. And then sanded all the hard-to-reach spots by hand until I got tied...
Wash & Wash & Wash
Wash and wash and wash and then wash again. No joke, I washed my shower a dozen times. I read other blogs before my project and they said cleaning was the longest part of the project... and I agree!
Rubbing Alcohol Rubdown
From my spray painting projects, I've found that if I wipe down with rubbing alcohol before I paint, gives a nice smooth application. After all of that cleaning, what's one more time... final cleaning with rubbing alcohol (I found in my medicine cabinet) and a microfiber towel.
Safety First - The paint fumes are too dangerous, so Chloe and I moved into a neighbor's condo for a few days while they were on vacation. Chloe was NOT happy, it was a very stressful staycation for both of us!
Finally ready to paint
After two coats
I used the Rust-Oleum Tub & Tile Paint.
Mounting the Shower Rod
One side at a time, use the measuring tape, drill pilot holes for anchors, screw in the end caps, mount the curtain rod, and tighten with the allen wrench.
Shower Curtains
A waterproof liner on the inside rod hung with clear rings. A nice diamond textured shower curtain (from Target) hung on the outside rod using the gold shower hooks
The After...
The clean crisp white took I was going for.
Chloe is back home and all is right in his world again.
I'm just living in his world as a housekeeper
